Honestly it's not, look:
I know you were a little worried there, just a toiletry most-definitely-not-a-make-up bag.
It's the same kind of idea as the make-up bag (but much more manly of course), but I made two squares, squared off the corners, placed them inside each other (wrong sides together) and went to town on the zip.
I was maybe a little over zealous, which is why I ended up with this:
To hide the 'my sewing machine tried to eat my project' look that was going on inside.
It was actually my husband's idea, though I think the conversation went more along the lines of:
"What do you think? Is it obvious that I struggled with the zip? I'm gonna have to buy him something else..."
"What?! Ur no, maybe you could just cover it over with some other fabric or something.
It looks nice zipped up."
And so I went to town with the hot glue and ribbon.
I think I prefer the make up bag way, but i think it's only okay with oil cloth inside. Anyone with a great tutorial or idea please share! (My family will thank you when Christmas comes around!)
(The label was just ribbon, melted at one end and stamped on, and then sewn on the fabric before sewing the two pieces into a square.)
